Thanks to the support of the ACT Government, Capital Football is pleased to announce that the 2020 winter football season has been extended to 27 September.
Over the past couple of months, Capital Football has worked closely with ACT Sport and Recreation and the Coalition of Major Participation Sports (COMPS) to extend the winter season for all winter sporting codes.
Understanding that a 14-day shutdown period is required between the transition of winter sports to summer sports, ACT Sport and Recreation have agreed to extend the winter season until 27 September.
Capital Football’s MiniRoos, ActewAGL Junior League and Senior Leagues will have an extra two weeks of competitions, with ACT Sportsgrounds’ Shutdown Period now scheduled for 4-16 October 2020.
Capital Football CEO Phil Brown thanked the ACT Government for their support of football in the ACT and surrounding region.
“I would like to extend my sincere thanks to ACT Sport and Recreation and the Coalition of Major Participation Sports for their collaboration and support as we worked towards extending the winter season in 2020,” Mr Brown said.
“A lot of work has been undertaken behind the scenes to ensure that our football participants can enjoy our sport for as long as possible this winter season.
“After three months on the sideline, I am looking forward to seeing all of our participants return to the field on 18 July.”
