2024 National Youth Championships

The National Youth Championships is back!

Boys NYC

Competition Dates: Tuesday 16 July 2024 – Sunday 21 July 2024

Venues: Wollongong – WIN Stadium, JJ Kelly Park, Ian McLennan Park

Girls NYC

Competition Dates: Wednesday 3 July 2024 – Monday 8 July 2024

Venues: Melbourne – La Trobe University, Home of the Matildas

Capital Football’s State Team Program provides players the opportunity to represent Capital Football at Football Federation Australia’s National Youth Championships.

Capital Football is committed to providing an opportunity for the regions aspiring young players to achieve their football ambitions via the Capital Football representative teams.

Selection of Coaches/Team Managers

The coaches for the National Youth Championships (NYC) will be appointed following advertised expressions of interest. Capital Football’s Technical Director will make a short-list of candidates and the final appointments of NYC staff are to be endorsed by Capital Football Technical Committee.

Selection of Players

All NPL Club Technical Directors will be asked to consult their club coaches and ask them to make recommendations for the respective NYC teams. Those lists of players are then forwarded to the respective NYC coaches who will be watching the NPLY and NPLW games throughout the season to help them identify the talented players. The coaches have access to an online scouting form that they send to the Capital Football Technical Director after watching those games.

After watching the players playing in the NPLY and NPLW, the Head Coach will then invite those short-listed players for training sessions. The Head Coach, in consultation with Capital Football’s Technical Director will finalise the selection of players who would represent Capital Football at NYC.
