Competition Structures in 2020
Capital Football is working towards the resumption of football matches, aligned to the easing of restrictions by the ACT and NSW Governments.
Capital Football is engaging with clubs to confirm team nominations, following which detailed match schedules will be shared with the football community.
We acknowledge that the football season has been reduced due to the impact of COVID-19. A discounted fee structure will be confirmed shortly. Once finalised, the discounted fees will be communicated along with information on the refund process for players who paid a full fee at the start of the year.

The planned competition dates are as follows:
MiniRoos
U5 – U9
Format: Intra club delivery
ACT Start Date: From 20 June 2020
NSW Start Date: From 1 July 2020
End Date: 26/27 September 2020
Finals: There are no finals in MiniRoos
Note: Clubs have the ability to commence MiniRoos matches from the dates advised, having submitted a plan to Capital Football. Clubs are not required to deliver MiniRoos matches at the “start date” and can introduce matches as it becomes viable for their club. Clubs can also make decisions about whether MiniRoos matches at their club will be conducted during school holidays.
U10 – U11
Format: Capital Football scheduled, 10 teams per division playing each other once
Start Date: From 18/19 July 2020
End Date: 26/27 September 2020
Finals: There are no finals in MiniRoos
Note: An extension to the winter bookings may result in two extra weekends for matches.
ActewAGL Junior League
Format: Capital Football scheduled, 10 teams per division playing each other once
Start Date: From 18/19 July 2020
End Date: 26/27 September 2020
Finals: There are no finals in the Junior League in 2020, removing the finals for U16 and U18 age grades and focusing on maximising participation opportunities for all players.
Note: An extension to the winter bookings may result in two extra weekends for matches.
Senior Leagues
Women’s State League, Women’s Masters League, Men’s State League, Men’s Community League, Men’s Masters League
Format: Capital Football scheduled, 10 teams per division playing each other once
Start Date: From 18/19 July 2020
End Date: 26/27 September 2020
Finals: There are no finals scheduled for the Senior Leagues in 2020, with the focus on maximising participation opportunities for all players.
Note: An extension to the winter bookings may result in two extra weekends for matches.
National Premier Leagues Women (NPLW)
Format: Capital Football scheduled, 9 teams per age grade (1st Grade, Reserve Grade, U17, U15, U13) playing each other once
Start Date: From 18/19 July 2020
End Date: Last Premiership match on 12/13 September 2020
Finals: Semi Finals – 19/20 September 2020
Grand Final – 26/27 September 2020
Note: Capital Football is considering play-off matches on the weekend of the Semi Final to provide teams with an additional match.
National Premier Leagues Men 1 (NPL1)
Format: Capital Football scheduled, 8 teams per age grade (1st Grade and U23) playing each other once, then splitting into a top and bottom 4 round-robin to qualify for the Grand Final
Start Date: From 18/19 July 2020
End Date: Last “regular” premiership match on 6/7 September 2020
Last “round-robin” premiership match on 19/20 September 2020
Finals: Grand Final 26/27 September 2020
National Premier Leagues Men 2 (NPL2)
Format: Capital Football scheduled, 10 teams per age grade (1st Grade and U23) playing each other once.
Start Date: From 18/19 July 2020
End Date: Last premiership match on 12/13 September 2020
Finals: Semi Finals 19/20 September 2020
Grand Final 26/27 September 2020
Note: Capital Football is considering play-off matches on the weekend of the Semi Final to provide teams with an additional match.
National Premier Leagues Youth Boys (NPLY)
Format: Capital Football scheduled, 13 teams per division (U13 to U16), and 11 teams for the U18 division, playing each other once.
Start Date: Rounds 1 and 2 of the U13-16 age grades were played before the suspension of football
Round 3 of U13-U16 and Round 1 of U18 recommences from 18/19 July 2020
End Date: 26/27 September 2020
Finals: There are no finals scheduled for the NPLY in 2020, with the focus on maximising participation opportunities for all players.
