Futsal Referee

Here’s everything you need to complete to become a Community Futsal Match Official and get ready for your first appointments.

If you are 13 years of age or older, follow these simple steps and you will be on you way to becoming a Futsal Referee:

1. Create a Football Australia Learning Centre account

2. Complete the Online Learning 

Through the Football Australia Learning Centre, complete:

• Futsal Laws of the Game
• Community Futsal Match Official Online Course

These are self-paced and can be enrolled in together by selecting “Futsal Laws of the Game & Community Futsal Match Official” under the Futsal Referee section of the Training Library.

The $33 course fee is paid directly to Football Australia.

3. Complete the Classroom Recap & Practical – $55

You need to complete:

• One Classroom Recap (via Microsoft Teams)
• One Practical Session (in person)

When enrolling in “Community Futsal Match Official Classroom Recap and Practical” under the Futsal Referee section of the Training Library, you will be asked to book into a Practical Session.

Places at each Practical Session are limited, so please select the session you are able to attend.

Classroom recap – Online via Teams

No booking required – attend one session.

The same Microsoft Teams link will be used for all Classroom Recaps and will be provided to participants. Join whichever session suits you best.

Allow approximately 2 hours.

• Wednesday 14 October – 6:30 pm 
• Wednesday 28 October – 6:30 pm

Practical session – In person

Booking required – select one session in the Learning Centre when enrolling.

Allow approximately 2 hours.

• Saturday 17 October – Gold Creek, 1:00 pm
• Tuesday 3 November – AIS, 7pm

The Classroom Recap and Practical can be completed in either order, but the online learning in Step 1 must be completed before attending either session.

The $55 fee covers both the Classroom recap and Practical and includes:

• Whistle and cards provided at the course 
• First-year Capital Football referee registration

4. Get ready to referee

Once you have completed all course requirements, there are a couple of final steps to get you ready for appointments.

• Register with Capital Football Referees
• Register in PlayFootball as a New Futsal Referee.

There is no additional registration fee for your first year, as this is included in your course fee.

• Order your Referee Uniform

You will need the Capital Football fluoro yellow referee uniform, which is the same uniform used for outdoor football.

A discount code for purchasing your uniform from Hallmark Sports will be provided once you have completed the course.

Appointments & Communication

Once your course and registration requirements are complete, the Capital Football Referees Department will be in touch with further information about getting started, including access to:

• Dribl – for referee appointments and match information 
• Spond – for referee communications, availability and updates

You don’t need to organise access to these yourself — we’ll provide the information you need to get set up and ready for your first appointments.
