Missed the Men’s National Premier League Round 4? Here’s your wrap-up!
IN A NUTSHELL
Tuggeranong United gained their first points of the season with a rare victory over Canberra Croatia, just their fourth ever in the NPL era, winning 3-2 at Greenway. Gungahlin United moved clear at the top of the table as Augustine Bangura struck the winner over Monaro Panthers at the AIS, Tigers FC saw their youth roar as Canberra Olympic were downed 3-1 and O’Connor Knights stretched their unbeaten streak to twenty in all competitions as they defeated Yoogali SC 3-0.
GOAL OF THE WEEK
An honourable mention to Jack Bitani who slammed home a rocket on debut, but Sam Walker’s acrobatic overhead kick to giver Tuggeranong their win over Croatia is our pick as Goal of the Week.
PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK
Tigers FC showed a glimpse of the future with their young cubs to the fore in their win over Canberra Olympic but, in a team performance of some repute, it was an older head who stood out. Tomohiro Ogawa was in inspirational form, prompting and probing and directing his team around the park in a stellar display.
TEAM OF THE WEEK
COMING SOON
It’s the ‘Cevapi Derby’ on Sunday as Canberra Croatia welcome O’Connor Knights to Deakin Stadium, whilst Yoogali SC are back in Canberra, tackling Gungahlin United at the AIS on the same day. Twenty-four hours earlier, Tuggeranong United head to O’Connor Enclosed to meet Canberra Olympic, before attention switches to the Riverside Stadium and the Battle of the Big Cats as Monaro Panthers meet Tigers FC.
