Men’s Futsal Premier League Round 10
An entertaining game between Boomerangs Youth and Belconnen United saw an incredible 12 goals scored as Belconnen pulled off a miraculous second half comeback. The Blue Devils looked to have the upper hand early in attack however conceded first as Ben-Baser Silk scored. The score continued to change as Taylor Beaton brought Belco back on level terms but the half exploded afterwards, as Boomerangs went into the half-time break up 5-2.
The second half was a different story though, as Belconnen scored five goals to nil, including Jack Green finishing his hat-trick, to run out seven goals to two winners.
The Canberra Olympic Superprawns continued their hot streak as they ruthlessly dispatched Untouchables Red by five goals. A seven-goal second first half saw Untouchables keep themselves right in the contest as they went ahead through Ryan Tredinnick in only the first minute before doubling the advantage in the fourth minute. However the Superprawns hit back strongly to lead 4-3 at the break.
The second half was a distinctly one-sided affair as the Superprawns piled on four goals to nil, all in the final ten minutes to run away with their eighth win of the season.
This week’s Boomerangs derby saw a low-scoring affair compared to the other matches, with Boomerangs Blue sneaking out with a win over Boomerangs White thanks to a late Daniel Giovinazzo strike.
Boomerangs White took the lead into the half-time break thanks to Brett Forward’s solitary strike in the 11th minute, however Brad Sawyer equalised only one minute into the second half. A see-sawing encounter looked to potentially go either way before Giovinazzo made no mistake with only a few minutes to play.
The final game of the round saw another entertaining match as NC Untouchables Navy took home a 4-3 win over the Woden-Weston Timberwolves. Cameron Gordon scored the only goal of the first half as Untouchables hit the break a goal to the good, however a three goals all second half made the game a very tight affair. Sam Carters bagged two for the Wolves in the second period but it wasn’t enough as Michael Sydney scored the winner for Untouchables with only two minutes to play.
