Angelo Konstantinou has been elected as the new Chair of the Capital Football Board following the 62nd Annual General Meeting held at the Hellenic Club in the City on Thursday 26 May.
Konstantinou succeeds outgoing Chair Fran Sankey, who remains on the Capital Football Board, alongside newly elected Gary Vandeburgt and current Directors Justin Webb and Georgia Briggs.
With Grace Gill not standing for a further term there is a vacancy on the Board.
“I feel honored to have been elected as Chair of Capital Football,” Konstantinou said of his appointment.
“Having previously been deputy chair for the last few years I felt the time was right to step up and help guide the organisation into the future.
“I would like to personally thank Fran Sankey for the extreme amount of work she has put into the board as Chair.
“Most of the work is done behind the scenes and not noticed by our football community.”
Gary Vandeburgt would be a familiar face to those who follow local National Premier League football with former referee having officiated at the top level of the local game during his career.
Vandeburgt was elected unopposed on the evening when the minutes of the 61st Annual General Meeting, held in 2021, were approved and the Financial Statements arising from the 2021 Annual Report were dissected and passed.
“We are delighted to confirm Gary’s position on the Capital Football Board of Directors and congratulate Angelo on his appointment as Chair,” Capital Football CEO Chris Gardiner commented.
“Capital Football would also like to place on record its thanks for the work that Fran Sankey has done in that position.
“We would also like to extend our thanks to Grace Gill for her time as part of the Board and the work that she has undertaken.”
