The cream of the Capital Futsal League will gather at MPowerdome on Friday 1 March for the Futsal Charity Shield All-Star game in order to raise funds for chosen Charity Sock it to Sarcoma.
Sock it to Sarcoma is the vision of Abbie Basson, a Perth woman who, aged 17, had the world at her feet before she was struck down by a sarcoma which eventually took her life. Her wish to create an organisation to raise awareness, fund research and give support to sarcoma patients is the energy that is driving the Foundation.
At the same time, Capital Football will again celebrate the life of young referee Cameron Shelton who was taken from us with this disease. Shelton, who was widely loved in the Canberra Football and Futsal Community passed away last year.
The two squads will be selected in a live draft format before the event, split into two teams, Capital Football Gold, and Capital Football Blue, with flair, skill, and fun the order of the evening in both men’ s and women’s encounters.
With representatives from all six CFL teams, ANU Apex, North Canberra Fire, South Canberra Swift, Queanbyean-Palerang Power, UC Stars, and West Canberra Lightning, this event is one not to be missed!
