New Clubs. New Colours. New Stars.
The brand new Capital Futsal League season will begin in late October, and it promises to be a whole new ball game with stop-clock and international courts the highlight to the six new clubs that are set to light up our courts this Summer.
Half-a-dozen new clubs will set out to claim CFL glory with all matches set to be played at Daramalan and broadcast live, and in their entirety, on BarTV. With fixtures for men and women at senior level, the standard is likely to be very high.
“The squads have been building nicely and we are anticipating some top class Futsal with the implementation of the new Capital Futsal League,” Capital Football CEO Chris Gardiner said.
“Pre-season for these new clubs has been moving along swiftly and some of the results from friendly matches indicate that we should be in for a hugely entertaining competition.
“Congratulations to the new Head Coaches at all of our clubs on bringing together such a high class field of players across both the men’s and women’s competition, and we wish them the very best of luck for the forthcoming inaugural season.”
South Canberra Swift and West Canberra Lightning will have the honour of getting the competition underway with a Friday Night spectacular. The women will lead the way at 6pm with the men following on at 8pm.
The Saturday evening offering will see the North Canberra Fire tackle the Queanbeyan-Palerang Power with the men getting proceedings under way at 5pm and the women seeing out the evening at 7pm.
On Sunday, it’s the University derby that is set to fizz as UC Stars host their peers from ANU Apex, the beginning of what is sure to be an incredible rivalry.
It will be fast, it will be frenetic, and there will be goals aplenty. Jump on board the brand new CFL.
