Futsal referee Scott Boon will bring up a huge personal milestone when he officiates on the South Canberra Swift v ANU Apex Men’s Capital Futsal League (CFL) Semi-Final on Sunday afternoon. That fixture will be Boon’s 150th Futsal appointment at Capital Football, a remarkable achievement and testament to his commitment to the sport.
Well known in Futsal circles for his unwavering dedication to the indoor game, Boon will also feature on the second Men’s last four clash as North Canberra Fire tackle West Canberra Lightning, before holding the whistle, alongside Gareth Biggs, in the Men’s Grand Final on Sunday.
“Scott has been a huge asset to Canberra and Capital Football as a Futsal official for many years,” Capital Football Referee Manager, Kearney Robinson commented. “He is a Futsal aficionado, has an encyclopaedic knowledge of the laws of the game, and helps mentor our younger officials.
“On behalf of everyone at Capital Football we congratulate Scott on his amazing achievement. We also pass on our congratulations to all our officials who have been selected to referee our CFL Finals series this weekend.”
The CFL tournament has seen ten referees take charge of the fixtures during the inaugural season, bringing their wealth of experience and calm demeanour to a tournament that has exceeded expectations.
