A massive weekend of matches is set to kickoff the Canberra Football season as multiple competitions get underway.
The 2018 Charity Shield will take place on Friday night, with Canberra Olympic taking on Tuggeranong United at Melrose Synthetic for the first silverware of 2018. Proceeds from the match will go to Ronald McDonald House Canberra, helping out the local community and families of sick children.
Saturday night sees the 2018 Capital Football National Premier Leagues Women’s get underway, with a HUGE Grand Final rematch between Belconnen United & Canberra FC set to light up McKellar Park. The two sides played out one of the best Grand Finals in recent memory in September, with Chantel Jones heroics giving Canberra FC a seemingly unlikely penalty shootout win.
As the NPL Women’s continues into Sunday, the FFA Cup in Canberra will begin. An all Capital League clash between ANU FC and White Eagles will mark the beginning of Round 3 and the qualification process, with that match-up kicking off at 12:30pm at ANU Willows Oval.
