Boomerangs FS 2 (Madeleine Perceval 27′, Isobel D’Amico 32′) def. by CUA 17’s White 3 (Isabel Mulhall 1′, Isabella Barac 6′, Jaide Trewin 20′)
A three-goal first half blitz from Canberra United Academy proved to be too much for Boomerangs, as they ran out 3-1 winners in Round 6.
Isabel Mulhall scored inside the first minute as the Academy flew out of the blocks, and Isabella Barac kept the momentum rolling as she doubled the advantage five minutes later. The Academy hurtled towards the break with a two goal lead but there was still time for one more and Jaide Trewin made it three goals in the final minute of the half.
But Boomerangs began to turn the match around early in the second half, and after a couple of chances Madeleine Perceval struck to cut the deficit. Five minutes later Isobel D’Amico chopped it down to one goal, and the Academy were on the back foot. But they held out under a strong Boomerangs finish to win the game by a slender margin.
NC Untouchables Navy 3 (Erika Pennyfield 17′, Tahlia Stanley 28′, Freyja Jacobsen 35′) def. Gungahlin United Yellow 1 (Chloe Page 12′)
North Canberra Untouchables Navy came from behind early to defeat Gungahlin United Yellow in Women’s Futsal Premier League Round 6.
Chloe Page struck first after just 12 minutes to put Gungahlin United in the lead, and they were looking strong with their early advantage. But Untouchables turned it around five minutes later with Erika Pennyfield’s goal, and the sides were locked a goal apiece at half time.
But Untouchables pulled clear in the second half as Tahlia Stanley scored eight minutes in with a well-taken finish to break the deadlock, and Freyja Jacobsen’s goal five minutes from time secured the 3-1 victory for Untouchables.
Gungahlin United Pink 0 def. by Belconnen United Blue Devils 2 (Rachael Corbett 21′, Olivia Gurney 25′)
A clinical second half from Belconnen United saw them cruise to a two goal win over Gungahlin United Pink in Round 6 of the Women’s Futsal Premier League. Both sides had chances in the first half but neither could make them count as they remained locked goalless at the break.
But it took only a minute of the second stanza for the Blue Devils to strike, with Rachael Corbetter netting in the 21st minutes to fire her side into the lead. Gungahlin looked to work their way back into the match but were unable to find their way past a disciplined defence and as they looked to attack, Olivia Gurney struck with 15 minutes to go to seal the victory for Belconnen United.
CUA 17’s Green 3 (Alexia Forner 25′, Hayley Taylor-Young 30′, 37′) def. NC Untouchables Red 1 (Sarah Crittenden 12′)
A late brace from Hayley Taylor-Young helped the Canberra United Academy Green to a 3-1 victory over North Canberra Untouchables in a Round 6 thriller. Untouchables went up early through Sarah Crittenden’s goal, and held sway for much of the first half as they reached the break a goal to the good.
That all changed five minutes following half-time though, as Alexia Forner pulled the Academy level with a goal to set up a tense final 15 minutes. And it was the Academy that responded to the pressure best, as Taylor Young netted first with 10 minutes left to pull her side ahead, before sealing the result with three minutes to go as she scored once more.
