NCU Untouchables Red 4 (Krista Hagen, Lucy Rowland, Dianne Wilson, Brigette Wright) def. CUA 17’s White 3 (Mackenzie Gibb, Brigitte Sander, Dhiaan Sidhu)
A four-goal lead from Untouchables proved to much for the Canberra United Academy to overturn as they came storming back into this Round Five matchup.
Untouchables controlled much of the game early in what shaped as a high-intensity contest, and they piled on goals somewhat despite the flow of play. Krista Hagen, Lucy Rowland Dianne Wilson and Brigette Wright all netted as Untouchables pulled further and further away, appearing to put the game out of reach. But the Academy would not relent, and a barnstorming final period with goals from Mackenzie Gibb, Brigitte Sander and Dhiaan Sidhy saw them fall just short of picking up a point.
CUA 17’s Green 3 (Emma Ilijoski 2′, Hayley Taylor Young 21′, 35′) def. Gungahlin United FC Pink 1 (Grace Field 1′)
Canberra United Academy Green caused something of an upset as they knocked off the all conquering Gungahlin United Pink. Grace Field netted within the first minute to giver her side the lead, but it was all the Academy from then on.
Emma Ilijoski equalised only moments later, and the two sides remained level at the break. But two goals from Hayley Taylor-Young, one only a minute into the second half and one with five minutes to go, saw the Academy pull away to take the victory.
Gungahlin United FC Yellow 1 (Chloe Page) def. by Boomerangs FS 7 (Jackie Alferink (2), Grace Basser Silk (2), Isobel D’Amico, Alicia Meuronen (2))
A six-goal first half from Boomerangs FS helped lead them to a massive 7-1 win over Gungahlin United Yellow in Round Five. Braces from Jackie Alferink, Grace Basser-Silk and Alicia Meuronen were topped off by a goal from Isobel D’Amico. The game was over by the half as the scoreline read six-nil, but United managed to eke out a second-half draw thanks to a goal from Chloe Page.
Belconnen United FC Blue Devils 3 (Michaela Day, Nicole Jalocha, Sian Minary-Bland) def. NCU Untouchables Navy 0
A clinical performance from Belconnen United saw them record a three goal win over Untouchables Navy. United played with precision and strong ball movement, with Untouchables struggling to hang in the game at times. The Blue Devils opened up a two goal lead at the break and added a third in the second half, with goals coming courtesy of Michaela Day, Nichole Jalocha and Sian Minary-Bland.
