We saw some of Woden’s youngest, newest and most talented Miniroos come down to the Mawson Playing Fields last Friday night, to celebrate the Women’s Asian Cup and kickstart their 2026 season!
It was a fantastic Autumn evening filled with fun, laughter and plenty of goals – made sweeter when our Matildas got the job done over DPR Korea in Perth!
A huge thank you to the team at Woden Valley Soccer Club whose volunteers did a fantastic job, whether it was setting up, packing down, running the canteen or just simply supporting the children and their families on the night.
A special mention must go to members of WVSC’s junior competition sides, who mentored the children on the night and made sure they had lots of fun! It was fantastic to see these young role models make a difference to their club’s youngest members.
We greatly appreciated having Coles and Milo on board to support this event. Coles generously donated catering supplies to the club for a sausage sizzle and fresh fruit for the canteen, whilst Milo supplied free take-home tins for the kids, who could not contain their excitement!
Milo wasn’t the only thing the kids walked away with, having access to a whole range of Asian Cup resources from colouring-ins, find-a-words and ‘Dream Fearless’ bracelets! This will no doubt galvanise their support of the Matildas as they enter the final stages of their Asian Cup campaign!
It’s a huge year for football and we are determined to make the most of it!
Go Matildas!!!
