Rob Oakley has been an integral part of the ever-expanding Powerchair Football program for several years.
His contribution to development of the program, and the support he provides by way of transport and sponsorship, provides kids that haven’t had the same opportunities as most people, the opportunities they deserve.
His commitment to the program is heart-warming. Rob continually turns up to the program to ensure the kids are enjoying themselves, and to help build a pathway for aspiring Powerchair players.
Rob is also a volunteer for Capital Region Muscular Dystrophy, a major force behind the success of the program. Recently, Rob raised funds to pay for travel, accommodation, and team fees through Capital Region Muscular Dystrophy, to provide the Canberra United Powerchair team to compete at the Australian Powerchair Football Club Championships.
Rob is still working behind the scenes to help recruit more participants for the sport to grow, and to provide more kids the opportunity to enjoy team sport.
