Canberra Olympic remained top of the National Premier League Women Reserves competition as they travelled to Melrose Synthetic and came away with a comfortable 3-0 victory over West Canberra Wanderers.
The result stretched Olympic’s lead at the top of the table to six points with Belconnen United having a game in hand and was rarely in doubt after two goals in the first twenty-five minutes, the second following the dismissal of Wanderers’ Bente Helgeby.
Abbey Hurman struck first, a quarter-of-an-hour into the match and, when Brittany Fiorese converted a penalty ten minutes later, Olympic were in control. The impressive Natalia Cerne added the third in the 67th minute to seal the victory.
Canberra Croatia threw off their truncated start to the season as they hammered Majura FC 6-0 to take the maximum points-haul from their encounter played at Deakin Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Emily Hazillas put Croatia ahead early on and they had the points sewn up the half-time mark as Pia McGhie and Rhiannon Fensom added to the tally. A fourth goal from Tahli Milin a minute before the break left Majura FC with an uphill task just to stay in the contest.
Tayah Sanders’ second goal of the season made it five fourteen minutes after the resumption of play before a goal for the returning Brittany Palombi rounded matters off with thirteen minutes left to play.
The scheduled fixture between Gungahlin United and Tuggeranong United was postponed. No new date has yet to be agreed for the replaying of this fixture.
Please note that ANU WFC have withdrawn from the 2025 NPL Women Reserves competition. Their results have been expunged from the competition and the table below reflects the current state without ANU WFC. Goalscorers have been updates to reflect this.
