Capital Football’s National Futsal Championships continued their respective journeys at the tournament in Melbourne, with an action-packed Day Three of matches at the State Hockey and Netball Centre.
The Under 12 Boys Blue team had just the one match on Friday, up against Football Queensland Maroon. With the match scoreless at the break, a goal from Benjamin Laurel wasn’t enough against a Queensland side that has been unbeaten in the tournament. Final Score a 2-1 loss.
The Under 12 Boys Gold side continued their dominance, with a dominant 5-1 win over Football NSW Thunder. Up 2-1 at the break, the side put on a show in the second half with three unanswered goals. The result saw them finish the pools stage with an impressive five wins from five matches.
The Under 13 Boys finished the pool stage with a big win over Football South Australia. Miro Vidler-Wilkinson starred for the U13’s, scoring four goals in the 6-2 win, as the side prepares for their quarter-final match against Football NSW Lightning.
The Under 14 Boys had a tricky double header ahead of them in Friday, falling to defeat against a Football West side, that has only one defeat to their name, 12-2, and a strong Football NSW Lightning side 8-2.
The Open Men came up against Football Victoria Tigers, going down 5-1 to the hosts, with Luca Macor getting on the scoresheet for his second of the tournament. The side faces the challenge of an undefeated Football Victoria Blues in the Quarter Finals, for a chance of progressing.
