Mens Futsal Premier League Round 9
Round 9 of the Capital Football Men’s Futsal Premier League saw a top of the table clash between Canberra Olympic Superprawns and Boomerangs FS Blue, while a Boomerangs Derby headline elsewhere as goals flowed across the board.
The Superprawns triumphed over Boomerangs Blue in their 1st v 2nd clash as a 2nd thanks to a second-half hat-trick from Ryan Keir. Boomerangs Blue took a two-goal lead into half-time courtesy of Brandon Hawker in the 16th minute and Michael Rinaudo’s goal on the cusp of half-time. However it was all Superprawns in the second half as Keir stole the show with three goals in 10 minutes for a 3-2 win.
The second game of the round saw only the second draw of the season, with NC Untouchables Navy again involved as they tied 3-3 with Belconnen United. Untouchables scorched the home side in the first half as two goals from Michael Sydney and one from Benjamin Rolfe had them up three-nil at the half. However the second half was the total opposite, as Dustin Wells put home two goals and Jack Green one to tie the game up at the end for Belconnen.
The Boomerangs derby between Boomerangs White and Youth, took a little while to get going, as Nicholas Dahl first troubled the scorers in the 12th minute to put the Youth side ahead. They looked to be heading into the break on top however a 19th minute goal from Jason O’Dwyer restored parity at the half for White. The match was evenly fought throughout the second half however Brett Forward’s 33rd minute strike was the pivotal moment as they delivered the youth their seventh loss of the season, two goals to one.
NC Untouchables Red took on Woden-Weston Timberwolves in the final match of the round, and the goals flowed as Untouchables ran out 6-2 victors. Nathaniel De Hoog got on the board first for Untouchables after 14 minutes, and Jeremy Hegarty added to the total just two minutes later. However Misko Naumoski halved the deficit at the break as he scored in the 18th minute. The second-half saw a bundle of goals as Untouchables put home four thanks to Sengmany Sanoubane, Matthew Corey, Michael Knee and De Hoog’s second, while Michael Kita pulled one back for the Timberwolves on the stroke of full-time.
