Six Canberra-based players have been invited to trial for the Central Coast Mariners Academy following their performances in the recent friendly match between the A-League powerhouse and the Capital All-Stars.
Canberra Croatia’s Cassidy Tanddo and Matej Busek, Gungahlin United goalkeeper Dylan Peraic-Cullen, Tuggeranong United centre-back Harrison Buesnel, O’Connor Knights defender Noah Steinacker and Canberra Olympic midfielder David Russell have been identified by the Mariners staff.
The half-dozen, all who have played senior football in the Canberra National Premier League competition, will spend time trialling with the Mariners Academy and, if successful, will be invited to join the Mariners for their 2023 New South Wales NPL Men’s program.
“We are delighted that the Mariners have identified potential talent from Canberra and wish the selected players all the best of luck for their forthcoming trial,” Capital Football Technical Director, Phil Booth, commented.
“The match between our local selection and the Central Coast Mariners was well received all-round and we hope that we are able to organise similar fixtures in the near future.
“It’s important for us to put players in a position where they can be recognised by A-League scouts to help them go as far as they can in their career.”
The Mariners, playing their sixteenth match in Canberra since their formation and their third against a Capital Football select X1, ran out winners in the friendly match, claiming a 4-0 success at Deakin Stadium.
