Walking Football is a social, small-sided version of football, suitable for all levels of ability and fitness!
It is low-impact, team-based exercise, with a different set of rules, specifically all players must ‘always have one foot on the ground’.
Matches are played with modified formats (5v5/6v6) on smaller pitches with shortened game times
Walking Football aims to provide participants with mental health benefits, social connectedness and promotion of the benefits of ongoing physical activity.
“Walking Football has given me much needed exercise and helped me to enjoy improved mental health. The competition got a lot of oldies out there having fun, pushing themselves to play hard, whilst retaining a good spirit of sportsmanship.”
- Bruce Kay, 68 years old
“I had never played a team sport or any kind of sport before and I really appreciated the support and encouragement of the other team members. I feel we all learnt a lot from the season and I know that my fellow team members are very keen to sign up for the next one.”
- Ann Brown, 74 years old
“After suffering from lower back problems a few years ago, I assumed my sporting days were definitely over.
I'd heard from our club that Walking Football was a thing. My doctor gave me the all-clear so I tried it out by joining the team that our kids' soccer parents put together.
After my second season when I convinced my wife to join in. I can only say great things about walking football.”
