The rejuvenation of Hawker Football Centre is almost complete thanks to the work conducted by Sports Clean.
The works will help to prepare Hawker’s main and training pitches for the busy remainder of the Winter season, as well as the hosting of small sided games during the 2018 Kanga Cup.
Beginning with brushing and vacuuming up dirt and rubbish on the pitch, the process then moved onto standing up the synthetic fibres, helping to improve drainage of the surface and allowing for rubber to settle when it is laid.
Then, a large amount of rubber was emptied onto the pitch and spread by a machine across the entire surface, to ensure an even distribution of the small pellets.
The proccess of ‘standing up’ the grass was then carried out once more, before a flat broom brush was used to make sure the rubber sits properly within the surface rather than on top of it, where it will be easily displaced.
The final part of the works involved patching and fixing of seams and ‘dead’ patches on the turf where it had become worn from overuse.
