The ACT’s inclusion in the Football Australia National Futsal Championship (NFC) is in full swing, with Expressions of Interest now open for head coaches and players for the 2022 event.
The NFC will be held on the Gold Coast from January 5-9, for Males U12, U13, U14, U15, U16, Youth Men and Open, Females U13, 15, U17, Youth Women, Open and Mixed AWD.
Futsal coach Zdrav Milicevic told Capital Football the NFC is always a great event for all involved.
“It’s a great experience whether you’re a player or a coach, whether you win or whether you lose,” Zdrav said.
“It’s a great learning experience and you get to show your talents up against the best players of your age group, on the biggest stage.
“You couldn’t ask for much more than that.”

After coaching for more than 15 years, Zdrav said he’d encourage any player from any background to sign up and express their interest in the event.
“I’ve always thought futsal is a good way to get your skills up and I’ve always been an advocate for futsal and the National Futsal Championships, it’s a great event,” he said.
“You’re learning how to control the ball in tight spaces, you basically have defenders in your face, your dribbles are close to your feet and all these things are positives for the outdoor game as well.
“You always find the best outdoor players in the world are actually great futsal players.”
The date for Capital Football NFC trials will be announced in the coming weeks.
