A series of fixtures for Capital Football’s new High-Performance Program for Girls will begin on Wednesday 28 June to help bridge the pathway between the National Premier League and the Liberty A-League.
The matches will feature currently contracted Canberra United Liberty A-League players, members of the Canberra United Academy and invited players from the Women’s NPL and will be played predominantly against NPL Boys and Capital Premier League Boys teams, alongside other selected opponents.
“The idea behind these High-Performance matches is to provide players who are on a Liberty A-League contract, or who are on the radar for National Identification, the chance to play additional fixtures,” Canberra United Assistant Coach, Antoni Jagarinec, who will coach the team commented.
“The matches will all be recorded and then used for potential National team and Liberty A-League identification processes and to showcase the talent that we have here in Canberra.
“It’s a chance for players to show what they can do in a close replication of an elite environment and to out themselves up for further honours. We are looking forward to working with our member clubs to help identify talent who would benefit from this environment.”
Clubs will be contacted via the Capital Football High-Performance team for identified players to be offered the chance to play in these matches, in addition to continuing with their club duties.
A schedule of matches, including opposition, dates, venues, and kick-off times will be available shortly.
