The 2019 National Premier Leagues Capital Football fixtures are now live, with some blockbuster matches set to kick off the NPLW, NPL1 & NPL2 seasons next year.
Round One of the 2019 NPL1 season will see a huge Friday night clash between 2018 Grand Finalists Canberra FC & Canberra Olympic at Deakin Stadium on the 5th April at 7pm.
The Riverina Rhinos and Tigers FC will open their seasons at home that weekend hosting the Monaro Panthers & Tuggeranong United respectively, while Woden-Weston will play host to Belconnen United under the lights at Melrose Synthetic on Saturday night.
The inaugural season of NPL2 will get going on the same weekend and will also feature a Grand Final rematch between ANU FC and White Eagles at Hawker Football centre.
New kids on the block Wagga City Wanderers will take on O’Connor Knights in Wagga Wagga at Gissing Oval as the visitors get their road trip out of the way early
The 2019 NPLW season will get underway on Saturday, 30th March with three big evening fixtures headlined by another Grand Final rematch between Belconnen United & Canberra FC at McKellar Park.
Incoming Canberra FC head coach Nik Brozinic admitted that the match will be a step into the deep end at the beginning of his first season, but said he is looking forward to it.
“Playing against Belconnen is definitely a big challenge,” he said.
“They’ve been a dominant side for many years and they have set the benchmark in the competition, but we are looking forward to it.
“We have put ourselves in a position over the last few years so we can genuinely challenge on all fronts this season.
“This step up to first grade for me won’t be a challenge in itself,” he said.
“The challenge comes on getting the team used to playing in a new system and incorporating the players who are joining the club for 2019.”
The 2019 seasons will culminate in a monster triple header Grand Final Day on Saturday, 14th September with the NPLW, NPL1 & NPL2 grand finals all to be played at the same venue.
Streaming schedules and details on how to follow the leagues will be released closer to the beginning of the season.
