A dominant performance from Gungahlin United Pink saw them take bragging rights in a big way in the Round 7 ‘Gungahlin derby’. Grace Field opened the scoring for Pink just two minutes in to set the tone, before Ashleigh Palombi struck twice, Najwa Allen netted a brace, Field scored again and Ilahna Aitchison added a goal to give Pink a hefty seven-goal lead at half time.
Ash Palombi kicked off the proceedings in the second half just two minutes in to complete her hat-trick, before sister Brittany scored two minutes later, and Aitchison followed up with her second shortly after. Field, Becky Rolfe, Brittany Palombi and Aitchison then scored four times in four minutes to send the scoreline to 14-0, before a barren patch in the final ten minutes saw no goals scored.
CUA 17’s White 2 (Brigitte Sander 18′, Tianah Miro 37′) drew. NC Untouchables Navy 2 (Katherine Thurber 9′, Tahlia Stanley 27′)
A late goal from Tianah Miro helped the Canberra United Academy White pull off a 2-2 draw in Round 7 of the Women’s Futsal Premier League. North Canberra Untouchables Navy scored first as Katherine Thurber finished off a good move inside the first ten minutes, but Brigitte Sander scored with just two minutes left in the first half to pull her side level at the break.
On the other side of the break it was Untouchables who again struck first through Tahlia Stanley once more, but they were unable to hold their lead as a determined CUA side struck back with just three minutes remaining through Miro to deny Untouchables the win.
Belconnen United Blue Devils 3 (Maja Blasch 4′, Samantha Price 5′, Alex Martens 34′) def. CUA 17’s Green 2 (Lara Agnew 8′, Alexia Forner 27′)
Belconnen United snatched a 3-2 win from the Canberra United Academy Green in Round 7 after the the Academy side had come from two goals down to tie. Maja Blasch scored early for Belconnen to set the tone, and just a minute later teammate Samantha Price scored a tidy goal to see the Blue Devils cruising, up by two goals after just five minutes.
But Lara Agnew reduced the deficit in the eight minute and the Academy were doing well to head into the half time break only one goal down after strong play from Belconnen United. And seven minutes in to the second half Alexia Forner’s strike brought the Academy level and set up a tantalising final ten minutes. But it was to be United who would take the chocolates, as a goal from Alex Martens with six minutes remaining secured the win for the Blue Devils who held out a spirited Academy side to finish off the match.
NC Untouchables Red 1 (Lucy Rowland 23′) drew. Boomerangs FS 1 (Grace Basser-Silk 10′)
A tight matchup between Untouchables Red and Boomerangs finished in a draw after goals either side of half-time. An even beginning saw both teams have chances but were unable to make them count, until Boomerangs struck. Grace Basser-Silk opened the scoring ten minutes in as she finished off a well constructed team move, and gave her side the upper hand.
Boomerangs lead into the break but that advantage did not last long, as Lucy Rowland struck just three minutes into the second stanza to pull her side level. Despite chances at both ends in the closing stages the score remained the same and the two sides shared the points.
