Canberra Juventus earned their fifth win of the Capital Premier League season as they eased to a 3-0 victory over White Eagles at Woden Park in the rearranged Round 16 match.
The win, secured by a trio of second-half goals, moved Juventus to within a point of Wagga City Wanderers currently in fifth place on the table, as the duo battle to be the ‘best of the rest’ with the top-four places in the CPL table already locked up by the teams occupying them.
It took Juventus quite some time to break down the Eagles but, once the visitors had netted twice within two minutes just past the sixty-minute mark, the destination of the result, and Juventus’ second victory in succession was rarely in doubt.
Tony Madaffari set Juventus on the way with his second goal for the club, netting in the 62nd minute, before midfield dynamo Adrian Macor doubled the lead two minutes afterwards with his fourth goal of the season.
Striker Nick Roufogalis completed the scoring with eighteen minutes remaining, bagging the third on the night, as Juventus moved onto seventeen points on the league table.
Eagles meanwhile remain rooted to the bottom of the league, inside the relegation place, having only won twice during the year. They are two points behind West Canberra Wanderers with the possibility that relegation to the State League could follow for whomever ends bottom.
