NPL14
Canberra Croatia will play Belconnen United in the NPL14 Girls Grand Final after two matches that went the distance on semi-final day. Croatia showed their uncanny knack from the penalty spot, claiming a 4-2 penalty shoot-out win over Majura FC after both their goals in the 2-2 draw after extra-time were scored from then spot. Ruby Selkirk had earlier given Majura FC a 2-0 lead with a goal after five minutes, and one in the second-half, before Croatia hit back. Stella Flinn netted from a penalty moments after Majura’s second, and Anabella Diamond kept her nerve with nearly the last kick of the game to rescue the contest. Belconnen United needed extra-time to defeat Canberra Olympic, coming from 0-1 behind to triumph. Sephora Fiori gave Olympic the lead before Sophia Suciu levelled six minutes later. The Blue Devils won the match in extra-time as Emmy Russell found the decisive goal to send her team through to the Grand Final.

League Champions Belconnen United suffered a surprise defeat in their NPL15 semi-final as Majura FC stunned the top-ranked side with a 3-2 success. Majura had the dream start as they scored twice within a minute after a dozen had been played, Ruby Selkirk opening the scoring before an own goal from Betsy Slinger doubled the lead. Harriet Harlow pulled one back for Blue Devils, and when Amy Sephora levelled, the momentum appeared to have swung. However, Shae Dumesic won it for Majura just before the hour. Canberra Croatia secured their place in the Grand Final with a narrow 2-1 win over higher-ranked West Canberra Wanderers in their meeting at O’Connor Enclosed. Madeline Tuttle struck twice for Croatia, both coming around the hour mark as Croatia established control of the match. The Wanderers sought a response and found one with thirteen minutes remaining as Grace O’Halloran pulled one back, but Croatia held on to win.

Belconnen United were in ruthless form in the NPL17 semi-finals as they made their way to the Grand Final with an 11-0 defeat of Canberra Olympic. Danijela Eskinja led the way with a hat-trick as the Blue Devils had six by the half-time break following goals from Olive Flaagan, Abbey Dodge, Holly Conlon, Siena D’Ambrosio and Eskinja. More followed after the break as Belconnen showed their quality, exposing Olympic with some breathtaking interplay and some superbly taken goals. West Canberra Wanderers stunned a Majura FC side that included many players who have had NPL Women’s First Grade experience in 2025 with a 1-0 victory at O’Connor Enclosed. The only goal of an enthralling encounter came just six minutes from the end of the match as Laura Tarrant struck what proved to be the match winning strike.
