Semi-Finals are upon us for the 2018/19 Women’s Futsal Premier League season, with two Grand Final spots up for grabs for tonight’s victors.

Boomerangs FS (1st) v Canberra FC (4th)

Canberra FC will be up against it in the first semi-final tonight as they take on competition heavyweights Boomerangs at the AIS. The three contests between the two sides have ended heavily in Boomerangs’ favour with a 20-0 advantage across them, and fourth placed CFC finished the season with a big goal difference of -31. They fell 8-2 to NCU Navy in their final group game, hardly ideal preparation for the semi-final so they will need to be on the ball against a dangerous and damaging Boomerangs outfit with threats all across the court.

NCU Navy (2nd) v Wanderers 2.0 (3rd)

Outside the round eight forfeit by Wanderers, the ledger is split evenly between NCU and Wanderers this season. Navy have the momentum heading into this one courtesy of a big win over Canberra FC last week, but Wanderers grabbed a victory over tonight’s opponents in the penultimate round. Wanderers were beaten well by Boomerangs last week despite a goal from Sarah Whitfield and a brace from Mikayla Van Deyk, while Bec Kiting and Alice Churchill both score hat-trick’s in NCU’s big victory.
NCU have strength across the court and will be hard to stop, but if Wanderers can contain them going forward then they will have the chance to make an impact down the other end and out themselves in a strong position for the win.
