Round 3
Gungahlin United opened up a six-point gap at the top of the Women’s Futsal Premier League as Ashleigh Palombi scored a hat-trick in a 4-1 defeat of NC Untouchables Red at the AIS Training Halls in Round 3.
The Gunners, as befits the team at the top of the table and looking the goods to win the crown again, were dominant in the opening half of the match and Ashleigh Palombi made hay by netting a treble inside the opening fifteen minutes of the contest. NC Untouchables Red regrouped at the break and struck a response through Kimberley Morgan but Najwa Allen had the final say, scoring her third goal of the season to put the issue beyond any doubt.
Boomerangs FS moved off the foot of the ladder with a 3-1 win over Boomerangs FS Youth in the inter-club derby match. A closely fought contest went the way of the senior Boomerangs FS team who went in front when Youth goalkeeper Eleni Haridemos was credited with an unfortunate own goal.
From there on the Youth were chasing the game and goals from Kate Deakin and Laure Hughes in the early stages of the second half gave the Boomerangs FS team the points. A late consolation from Madeleine Perceval added some respectability to the score at the close, her second goal in two matches.
