Missed the Women’s National Premier League Round 7? Here’s your wrap-up!
IN A NUTSHELL
Eight for Belconnen, Three for Gungahlin, and two for Olympic as the top-three showed their strength again in winning their NPLW Round 7 matches. The Blue Devils romped to victory against ANU WFC at Hawker Football Centre, the Gunners backed up from a Federation Cup Semi-Final loss to win against Tuggeranong under the lights at Kambah, whilst West Canberra Wanderers pushed Olympic who needed two late goals to secure their win.
GOAL OF THE WEEK
A superb strike from winger Ginger Oliver opened the scoring for Gungahlin United at Kambah 2. Twenty-five meters from goal, the forward’s powerful attempt hit crossbar, bounced, and hit the bar again before landing in Pearce’s hands. A quick check by the referee with his assistant confirmed the ball had indeed crossed the line, offering Oliver her fourth goal of the season.
PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK
For the second week in succession the Performance of the Week goes to a player whose team was beaten. Stephanie Nikias might have been on the wrong end of the scoreline at O’Connor Enclosed, the West Canberra Wanderers defeated 2-0 by Canberra Olympic, but the Wanderers central defender was a colossus, helping her team hold firm until late on.
TEAM OF THE WEEK

Two in-form teams meet at O’Connor Enclosed on Sunday as second plays third, with Gungahlin United making the trip to tackle Canberra Olympic, the league leaders, Belconnen United, welcome West Canberra Wanderers to McKellar Park on the same day, whilst 24-hours earlier Canberra Croatia and Tuggeranong United clash at Deakin Stadium.
