Missed the Women’s National Premier League Round 20? Here’s your wrap-up!
IN A NUTSHELL
A Champions display from Canberra Olympic as they romped to the league title with a four-goal hammering of nearest rivals Belconnen United at McKellar Park. A consummate display in which they were always in control of the situation, and a terrific season-defining performance. Elsewhere, ANU WFC led Croatia by a goal, until a late three-goal burst saw the visitors home, and Lauren Hall scored twice as Wanderers crushed Tuggeranong 4-1 at Melrose Synthetic.
GOAL OF THE WEEK
A goal on her 150th appearance was always likely to be a milestone moment for Sarah Whitfield, but the manner of the finish made it even more memorable for the West Canberra Wanderers legend. A couple of touches to tee it up from range, then a curling shot of some power that flashed into the top corner,. Superb stuff.
PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK
Madelyn Whittall was sensational in her teams 4-0 triumph over Belconnen to help seize the title from the Blue Devils. A goal taken with some aplomb on the volley, brought down for a penalty, and generally leading the line in wonderful fashion, making life a continual misery for the Blue Devils for the whole of her ninety-minute display.
