Missed the Men’s National Premier League Round 16? Here’s your wrap-up!
IN A NUTSHELL
As Sir Alex Ferguson once said, ‘Football, Bloody Hell.’ A weekend of drama in the NPLM as Yoogali bagged a 96th minute winner, their first ever in the top-flight, the Knights bagged a 95th minute winner, as seems to happen most weeks, in fact they got two in stoppage time, and Gunners scored a 96th minute winner from the spot in the table-topping showdown. Tuggeranong coughed up a two-goal lead, and a penalty, again, as Tigers earned a draw, and we all took a deep breath.
GOAL OF THE WEEK
For the magnitude, and the sheer ridiculousness of the conclusion to the game, O’Connor Knights’ Aisosa Ihegie gets the goal of the week for his 95th minute game-sealer against Monaro Panthers at the Riverside Stadium. A goal adrift two minutes into time added on, three minutes later, they’ve nicked the points. Unbelievable.
PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK
Let’s give it to the men from Griffith as a collective eh? They’ve battled, they’ve put in the hard yards, they’ve committed, and they’ve finally got their reward. It might have come late, it might have been against their closet challengers, but did they not deserve it. Superb throughout and their late season renaissance continues. Can they save themselves?
TEAM OF THE WEEK
COMING SOON
The big games keep on coming. Yoogali will fancy an upset when they meet Monaro Panthers, Gunners will be seeking to consolidate top spot when they take on Olympic, Tuggeranong travel to the home of the league champions, the O’Connor Knights, and Tigers meet Croatia at the AIS. Should be another tasty weekend!
