In a well fought match, Canberra Croatia U14s managed to get the win over Tigers FC 2-0 with two goals in the first half. Goals were scored by Karnik Dangwal and Ryan Arrouk. Gungahlin United made sure they got their much-needed points this weekend to be top of the ladder. They won 5-0 over Majura FC as the home team established control with a goal in the first minute. Monaro Panthers seemed certain to win against Woden Valley considering their place on the ladder, and they did so, winning 12-2 out at Mawson fields after a tough losing streak. West Canberra Wanderers secured a home game win against Brindabella Blues 3-1. An unlucky own goal was scored by Brindabella in the first half, but they swiped Wanderers’ clean sheet with a goal in the second half. Brindabella never gave up though, receiving two yellow cards towards the end showing their fight was fought. O’Connor Knights have had a remarkably successful winning streak and Round 17 was no different. They got an 8-0 win over Tuggeranong United at O’Connor Enclosed. Belconnen United travelled out to Wagga and their efforts were worth it because they managed a 4-0 win over Wagga City Wanderers. The visiting team’s Chigozie Ogbonnaya started the teams’ path to victory by scoring two goals early in the game, and each team got themselves two yellow cards. Gungahlin United had a predicted win over Majura FC down at Harrison fields. They won 2-0 with goals by William Ord and Amal Kamara. Woden Valley had a 5-0 win against the bottom team, Monaro Panthers, while playing out at Mawson. Woden would have wanted to secure some points over Monaro to try and overtake Tigers FC on the ladder. Luca Storgato scored himself four goals while there were three yellow cards given. In the O’Connor Knights vs Tuggeranong game Logan Volkert scored two goals and Gerard Van Den Bos and Joseph Jovensio scored one each for the home team. Brindabella Blues sealed a 3-0 win against West Canberra Wanderers. Ciaran Luu and Nick Berry helped their team to success which also secures them one spot higher on the ladder. Belconnen travelled out to Wagga and once again their effort was justified. The visitors won 3-1 against the Wanderers with goals by Isla Murphy, Chimdiebube Ogbonnaya, and Dion Makuwira. Diesel Hardy managed to get one for Wagga, but it was not enough to bag three points. The final game followed on the Sunday where Canberra Olympic and Radford College faced off. It ended in a 3-3 tie. This could be expected because they are next to each other on the ladder and Olympic would be glad Radford did not get any more ahead.
