Why football works in schools

Football is simple to start, easy to adapt, and perfect for every playground size, from courts to ovals.

Students gain:

  • Fundamental movement skills (running, agility, balance, coordination)
  • Confidence and resilience through fun challenges
  • Teamwork and communication in small-sided games
  • An inclusive environment that welcomes all abilities and experience levels

Capital Football is determined to give every school child the opportunity to learn, practice and play football, so that it can have a lasting positive impact on their physical and mental well-being.

Program options

Choose the delivery style that suits your school:

Coach-delivered

A Capital Football coach runs sessions on-site, taking the pressure off staff and ensuring high-quality delivery.

This can be in an outdoor or indoor (futsal) setting!

Inclusive Program

The Football in Schools Inclusive Program is an adapted version of the MiniRoos program, catering for students with intellectual disabilities and autism.

The program has been designed by Football Australia in partnership with Special Olympics Australia for delivery in special education environments.

Teacher-delivered

Teachers deliver sessions using a structured 4-week program (with equipment support available).

We provide technical resources from the MiniRoos Session Guides, SAP Programs and Skill Learning Principles, all of which can be aligned to the students PDHPE curriculum, making it very simple for a teacher to assess core competency and student assessment.
