Capital Football is seeking individuals with a passion for the women’s and girls’ game to join the newly established Women & Girls Football Working Group.
The Working Group has been established to review participation trends and provide recommendations to strengthen participation, retention, and development opportunities across the women’s and girls’ game.
The growth and sustainability of women’s and girls’ football is a key priority for Capital Football. While football continues to provide opportunities for thousands of women and girls across the region, recent feedback from clubs has identified challenges relating to participation, retention, player pathways, and the ability to field teams at various levels of competition.
The Working Group will play an important role in helping Capital Football better understand these challenges and identify practical strategies to support clubs, participants, coaches, and volunteers.
The group will focus on:
- Identifying key factors influencing participation and retention in the women’s and girls’ game.
- Understanding barriers impacting participation, particularly within NPL competitions.
- Exploring challenges faced by clubs in recruiting and retaining female players.
- Developing practical recommendations to strengthen women’s and girls’ football programs.
- Supporting sustainable participation growth across junior, youth, and senior competitions.
Capital Football is seeking a diverse range of perspectives and experience from across the football community. Applications are encouraged from individuals involved in:
- Junior girls football
- Youth football and player transition programs
- Senior women’s football
- NPL football
- Coaching and player development
- Club administration and leadership
- Participation and community football programs
The Working Group will initially operate for a review period of at least three months, during which members will participate in regular meetings. Following completion of the review, the Capital Football Board may consider extending the Working Group in an advisory capacity to support the implementation of recommendations and monitor ongoing and emerging issues impacting the women’s and girls’ game.
All Expressions of Interest will be reviewed by Capital Football management, with recommended appointments presented to the Capital Football Board for endorsement.
