As part of the celebrations for the 2024 Female Football Week, Capital Football are hosting a ‘Women in Sports’ panel at the 2024 Awards Brunch, sponsored by Capital Chemist.
Get to know a little about one of the panel members, Paralympian Vanessa Low.
Vanessa was a five-time world championship medallist and two-time Paralympian for Germany winning a gold and a silver medal in Rio before she started representing Australia in 2018. Her success has continued since switching countries winning gold at the 2019 World Championships and taking out her second Paralympic gold in the long jump in Tokyo while breaking the women’s T61 long jump world record.
Vanessa was 15 when she lost both of her legs in a tragic train accident, she is now helping raise awareness for different organisations involving road and train safety. She has also done plenty to inspire the next generation of track athletes in Australia, Germany and across the globe, while sharing her inspiring story through motivational speaking.
Vanessa is now coached by her husband Scott looking to compete at her fourth Paralympics in Paris.
