As part of the celebrations for the 2024 Female Football Week, Capital Football are hosting a ‘Women in Sports’ panel at the 2024 Awards Brunch, sponsored by Capital Chemist.
Get to know a little about one of the panel members, A-Leagues Match Commissioner and Chair of the Capital Football Disciplinary and Disputes Tribunal, Sigourney Dunk.
Sigourney Dunk is a seasoned professional with a diverse background in sports administration and law. During her tenure with Capital Football and Canberra United, she held several roles, gaining exposure to all facets of the business.
Sigourney implemented several lasting innovations that remain integral to both entities today, including the introduction of GPS units built into Canberra United player kits, the implementation of referee alternative ‘blue shirt’ uniforms, and the establishment of the current website infrastructure for Capital Football.
Despite transitioning into law, Sigourney maintains her involvement in the football community as Chair of the Capital Football Disciplinary and Disputes Tribunal, where she oversees complex matters that occur both on and off the field.
She also serves as an A-Leagues Match Commissioner, demonstrating her understanding of A-Leagues operations. Sigourney is committed and regularly demonstrates her dedication to upholding integrity in our region.
In her spare time, she is a 1st Dan Black Belt and a taekwondo instructor, advocating for female empowerment, offering a platform for self-discovery, confidence building, and breaking stereotypes. With expertise spanning sports management, governance, law, and project management, Sigourney excels across diverse domains, making her an invaluable asset in any endeavour.
