Female Football Week 2025, a nationwide celebration of the people driving the continued rise of women’s football, concluded over the weekend with clubs all over the ACT and surrounding region supporting the initiative.
Held from 2–11 May, Female Football Week has in its 11 years become a flagship initiative, recognising, celebrating, and inspiring the contributions of women and girls across all levels of the game.
For the first time, Capital Football held a Mums and Daughters training session, as well as a Dads and Daughters session.
With well over 100 parents and daughters taking part, the first-time event proved to be a success with plans to make the training session a more regular occurrence.
Another successful event held during the week was the ‘Off-The-Pitch Player Education Webinar’ which was aimed at females of all ages who are playing, coaching or refereeing, parents/guardians of female players, and coaches/referees of females.
The webinar focussed on multiple topics being; the menstrual cycle and its effects on sporting performance/training considerations, Nutrition, Mindfulness/mental health, and an athlete’s perspective on juggling multiple commitments.
Adding to the celebrations, the 2025 Female Football Week Award winners were revealed, honouring the women and girls making a significant impact across all levels of football in Canberra.
