The Capital Football U14 team emerged victorious from an epic National Youth Championship held in Wollongong claiming victory in a sensational Group B final, winning by the odd-goal in five against Queensland Silver.
Having shard six goals in a 3-3 Group match stalemate earlier in the tournament, there was little doubt that the final would prove to be just as entertaining for the watching crowd at Win Stadium.
In a ding-dong affair, Capital Football went ahead in the seventh minute through a goal from Eden Rodda, the forward scoring her sixth goal of a very good tournament, to edge her team ahead.
Queensland had a goal-getter of their own though in Emily Bailey, and the Queenslander struck twice for her team to keep them in the contest. Samantha Shea had earlier put Capital Football back ahead at 2-1.
Fortunately for Capital Football, the U14 Player of the Tournament was wearing blue and, Tehya Aspland made it 3-1 with her sixth of the National Youth Championship as well, a goal that was to prove to be the match-winner in the long-run.
The win completed an excellent week for the team who topped the under-14 group B table with four wins and a draw.
Meanwhile, the under-16 team were in Group A and finished their tournament on a high with a narrow 1-0 win over Tasmania in a crossover match. They were pitted in a tough Group and earned a 1-1 draw with Queensland Silver via a goal from Lucy Cameron.
