Canberra Olympic are the 2017 Playstation4 National Premier Leagues Capital Football Premiers, claiming the title for a second consecutive season.
After completing last season’s local treble and progressing to the FFA Cup Semi-Finals, Frank Cachia’s side blazed a trail to the title this year again, including an extraordinary run of form that has seen them not lose a game since Round two when they went down 3-0 to rivals Canberra FC.
A win this weekend in a tough clash against Tuggeranong United would have all but guaranteed the title to the reigning Premiers, but a decision under Competition Regulations has allowed the celebrations to begin early after the Round 14 match between Olympic and the Centre of Excellence was declared a forfeit on the part of the development side.
Olympic will host the Premier of the PS4 NPL Northern NSW in the Playstation 4 National Premier Leagues Finals series, with their opponent to be either Edgeworth FC or Hamilton Olympic FC depending on the result of their final round this weekend.
That matchup will be held on the weekend of the 16th & 17th September in Canberra, on a big weekend of football which will also feature the PS4 NPL Women’s Capital Football Grand Final.
