FIFA and A-Leagues Referee Alex King is coming to Canberra next week to deliver an education session for all Capital Football referees. He will be sharing his expertise on player management, penalty area decisions and a day in the life of a full-time referee.
King is a veteran of 96 A-League Men’s matches and is one of the most respected referees in Australian football. His experience and expertise offer the chance for Capital Football referees to learn from one of the best.
“I think it’s a really wonderful opportunity for us,” said referee Alex Eagleton, “Alex is recognised across Australia for his player management and it’s a chance for us as referees to ask questions and learn from him.”
Alex King was selected as the third member of Football Australia’s fulltime professional referees prior to the 2019/20 ALM season. He has since taken control of the 2019 FFA Cup Final and was awarded the Men’s Referee of the Year for the 2021/22 season.
“He is so well known in Australian Football, so for him to be able to step in and offer some development to our referees is critical to their ongoing success.”
Referee Delfina Dimoski also expressed excitement at the upcoming education session.
“Alex brings with him a wealth of knowledge and expertise from the highest level of Australian and International football. I think this session will have a massive impact for our referees,” Dimoski commented.
“I hope it will inspire them to think about their refereeing pathway and how they can strive to achieve their best regardless of what level they officiate at.”
