Belwest Foxes Soccer Club is being recognised as the September Club Changer of the Month for its outstanding commitment to strong governance, effective leadership and building a sustainable future for its football community.
Through the dedication of its committee and volunteers, the club has demonstrated a proactive approach to strengthening governance and ensuring its operations meet the evolving needs of members.
A key achievement has been the modernisation of the club’s constitution, aligning governance processes more effectively with the football season and creating a stronger foundation for future growth.
The introduction of Spond has also enhanced transparency, engagement and two-way communication between the committee and members, improving the management of registrations, teams, events, fundraising activities and important club updates.
Beyond governance, the club continues to lead by example in creating a positive and inclusive culture.
Through targeted communication campaigns, Belwest Foxes actively promotes respectful behaviour towards referees and officials, encouraging players, families and spectators to reflect on the impact of their actions and contribute to a welcoming football environment.
The club is also committed to increasing participation opportunities for women and girls through dedicated player, coach and referee development pathways.
These programs provide training, mentoring and support that help build confidence, develop leadership skills and encourage greater female representation across all areas of the game.
Demonstrating strategic leadership and long-term planning, Belwest Foxes is partnering with the ACT Government to deliver significant upgrades to its Latham home ground, including accessible amenities, shaded areas and free drinking water.
These improvements will create a more welcoming and accessible environment for current and future members.
Belwest Foxes continues to invest in its people, facilities and community while maintaining affordability and supporting initiatives such as refugee participation and Every Chance to Play programs.
Through strong committee leadership, sound governance practices and a commitment to inclusion, the club is creating lasting positive change both on and off the field.
