Capital Football advises that Majura Football Club (Majura FC) has made the difficult decision to withdraw from the 2026 National Premier League Boys (NPLB) Under 16s and 18s competitions, for the remainder of the season. This withdrawal takes effect immediately for Majura FC Under 16s and 18s teams.
This decision follows ongoing consultation between Majura FC and Capital Football and has been formally communicated to affected players and families.
Following a thorough review and careful consideration of the current player numbers and player and coach welfare, it has been determined that this situation has not arisen from a single result or event. Instead, it followed the departure of key coaches immediately before the season and during the mid-season transfer window. This created instability, accelerated player departures and declining squad numbers, and compounded existing welfare concerns and recruitment challenges. These issues were further complicated by inaccurate information circulated through unofficial online channels.
Although this is an unfortunate outcome, Capital Football acknowledges Majura FC’s commitment to placing players’ wellbeing at the forefront of its decision-making and recognises the care and support the club has provided to affected players and their families throughout this challenging period.
As a result of this decision, the following will occur:
- All Majura FC Under 16s and 18s matches scheduled in NPL Boys will be recorded as 3-0 forfeits in favour of Majura FC’s opponents.
- This includes matches across Round 1 that were completed or postponed.
- Effectively immediately, all matches featuring Majura FC Under 16s and 18s will be changed to a bye.
- These updates will be reflected in Dribl by Capital Football by COB Friday, 24th July 2026.
Capital Football is aware of the participation challenges facing some NPL clubs. Addressing these challenges remains a priority, and we are committed to working collaboratively with clubs to strengthen participation and ensure the long-term health of our competitions.
We ask all clubs to respect Majura FC’s decision and join us in working together to support the club during this time.
