CUA U17 Green 5 (Ilijoski 4′, Lawless 16′, 31′, Forner 17′, 23′) def. Gungahlin United Yellow 3 (Magro 25′, Giorgi 34′, S. Esposito 39′)
A fast start and three-goal first half helped CUA Green on their way to a 5-3 win over Gungahlin United Yellow in Round 1. Emma Ilijoski struck early before Alexia Forner and Molly Lawless added goals ahead of the break. Forner added her second shortly after play resumed before Sabrina Magro nicked one back for Gungahlin. But Lawless restored the advantage to four goals before strikes late on from Mia Giorgi and Shannon Esposito cushioned the final deficit somewhat.
Gungahlin United Pink 7 (Field, A. Palombi (2), B. Palombi, Roche, Allen (2)) def. CUA 17’s White 1 (Barac)
Last seasons Grand Finalists Gungahlin United Pink started the new season on the right foot, with a six-goal win over CUA white. Ashleigh Palombi scored a first half brace to go with a goal from Najwa Allen as they lead by 3 at the break. Isabella Barac put CUA on the board early in the second period. But Allen restored the lead quickly before Grace Field, Becky Roche and Brittany Palombi added the finishing touches.
NCU Navy 2 (Stanley 21′, Pennyfield 30′) def. Boomerangs FS White 0
A clinical second half from NCU Navy helped them to a 2-0 win over Boomerangs White in Round 1. NCU had the majority of first-half chances but were unable to make the breakthrough, until Tahlia Stanley struck just moments into the second period. Erika Pennyfield doubled the advantage with 10 minutes to go and a controlled performance saw NCU take the points.
Belconnen United 3 (Martens 7′, Corbett 18′, Minary-Bland 33′) def. NCU Red 1 (Wilson 23′)
Belconnen United opened their campaign with a strong win over NCU Red, getting off to the perfect start as Alex Martens arrowed in a free-kick early. Rachael Corbett doubled the lead moments before the break, but Dianne Wilson halved the deficit three minutes into the second half. The sides continued to fight evenly but Sian Minary-Bland essentially settled the contest as she rounded out the score at 3-1 with seven minutes left.
