Round 6
NC Untouchables Navy remained in touch with league leaders Gungahlin United following a 4-0 win over Boomerangs FS Youth in Round 6 of the Women’s Futsal Premier League. In a fast-paced game the NC Untouchables Navy led 2-0 at the interval with a strike on the stroke of half-time from Freya Jacobsen adding to Alice Churchill’s tenth minute opener.
With both ‘keepers in fine fettle, goals were at a premium and it was crucial for the outcome of the contest that NNC Untouchables Navy scored next. It took six minutes of the second half for Churchill to add to her tally with a rare header, her third goal of the season, as Navy increased their lead. A fourth from Karen Clarke, five minutes from time, sealed the result.
Gungahlin United remained three points clear as they racked up a fifth win in a row with a 6-3 defeat of Boomerangs FS Youth. They were made to work hard for the win however with a double from Ashlyn Garrity forcing Gunners to dig deep after two goals in a minute from Grace Field and Brittany Palombi had briefly threatened a rout.
Michelle Aurousseau put Gungahlin back in front on 18 minutes, a lead they held until half-time. After the break Brittany Palombi netted her second, and eighth of the campaign before Aurousseau and Najwa Allen secured the win. Madeleine Perceval pulled one back for Boomerangs Youth in the final minute.
