Ned Zelic
Ned Zelic, one of the finest footballers to come from the nation's capital, was inducted into the Capital Football Hall of Fame in 2010.
A product of Canberra Croatia FC, Ned started his professional career in the National Soccer League where he played with clubs Sydney United and Sydney Olympic.
Ned spent most of the 1990s playing in Europe, most notably for Borussia Dortmund where he reached the UEFA Cup Final in his first season with the club losing to Juventus.
He won the German Bundesliga title in 1995 and also played for Auxerre, Munich 1860, Eintracht Frankfurt, Urawa Diamonds and finally with FC Dinamo Tbilisi.
An elegant defender, Ned played one year in the inaugural A-League for the Newcastle Jets. Ned played for the Australian youth, Olympic, and senior teams and was captain of the Australian team that competed and finished 4th at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics after scoring that memorable brace to qualify against the Netherlands.
