George Lemon
George Lemon was inducted into Capital Football's Hall of Fame in 2014 after 22 years of continuous service to the local football community.
From 1992, George Lemon spent time as a club administrator with Queanbeyan City and Monaro FC and was also a Founding Member of Capital City Suns.
George supported the administration of the men’s league for a dozen years, including seven years as the Chair of the Men’s Standing Advisory Committee before becoming a Member of the South Regional Council in 2013.
George, who also had a four-month stint as General Manager of the Canberra Cosmos, coordinated the ACT Multicultural Cup and the Chief Minister’s Friendship Cup in 1999. He also initiated and inaugurated the Premier League Grand Final Breakfast.
George says one of his favourite highlights was bringing the East Timor U14s trip Canberra in 2001, where they were “treated like movie-stars by the Canberra community”.
After 22 years of continuous service, George Lemon hung up his “boots” and was inducted into Capital Football’s Hall of Fame in 2014.
