IN A NUTSHELL
Belconnen United sent a real statement of intent to their League rivals with a stunning 5-2 away win over Canberra Croatia at Deakin Stadium, Alyssa Di-Campli grabbing a treble (see below). Gungahlin United below away West Canberra Wanderers under the Friday Night Lights at the AIS, four goals in the opening half-an-hour doing the business, whilst ANU FC and Tuggeranong United drew 1-1 at Hawker Football Centre.
GOAL OF THE WEEK
From one end to the other. A consummate team goal for Belconnen United that started off a Canberra Croatia corner and ended five passes later with Alyssa Di-Campli ramming home, first-time, into the top corner.
PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK
Not many get a hat-trick at Deakin Stadium in away team colours, even fewer do it against a side an experienced as the hosts, Canberra Croatia. Which is why, for the second week running, Alyssa Di-Campli gets the Performance of the Week. Three well-taken goals led to three valuable points for the Blue Devils.
TEAM OF THE WEEK
COMING SOON
Only the two matches this weekend, with West Canberra Wanderers fixture with Canberra Croatia being postponed, so it’s a chance for Gungahlin United to go back-to-back when they host ANU WFC at Gungahlin Enclosed, whilst at O’Connor Enclosed Canberra Olympic, fresh off a midweek cup treat against Croatia, welcome Tuggeranong United.
