Missed the Men’s National Premier League Round 10? Here’s your wrap-up!
IN A NUTSHELL
What a weekend! Tigers blitzed Olympic in a 14-minute second-half spell to win 4-1 and move into third, Croatia are within three points of the summit after beating Tuggeranong in a game that featured three penalties, the Knights left it late, very late, to break Yoogali hearts, and did it with ten men in stoppage time, whilst the Panthers went top with three second-half goals muzzling the Gunners firepower.
GOAL OF THE WEEK
The first of a double from Japanese midfielder Tomohiro Ogawa at O’Connor Enclosed just about shades it. An exquisite touch from Josh Milicevic freed Ogawa who danced infield only to see Sebi Usai save his shot. Nik Taneski bagged the rebound and teed up his midfielder, who set aim and clattered home from just beyond the penalty spot.
PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK
So many choices this week, mainly between the posts where Jakob Cole of Tigers, Seb Usai of Olympic, and Aiden Munford of Gunners were all in incredible form. But, shading it for us was the form of Nikos Kalfas. The Tigers frontman was irresistible and, whilst not getting on the scoresheet himself, was instrumental in the Tigers victory.
TEAM OF THE WEEK
COMING SOON
A huge weekend of action in the NPL sees the Croatian derby at O’Connor Enclosed as the Knights welcome their neighbours Canberra Croatia in a highly-charged encounter, much like the Battle of the Big Cats 2, with table-toppers the Panthers heading into the Tigers den in a crunch meeting. Tuggeranong seek a road back into top four contention when they face Olympic at Kambah, whilst Gunners will seek to rediscover their goalscoring boots when Yoogali hit town.
