Tigers FC last week confirmed that Ryan Grogan will take over as the club’s NPL1 Men’s Head Coach for season 2020.
Grogan is a former head coach of the Canberra United NYL team, having mentored the squad in their inaugural season in the Foxtel Y-League in 2017/18.
He was also in charge of the Canberra United Academy NPLW team in 2018, where he led the side to a preliminary final berth and was named the Capital Football Coach of the Year.
Tigers’ decision to appoint Grogan comes after a strong year for the club, which saw them win the Men’s Federation Cup and qualify for the FFA Cup. They also reached their first NPL Grand Final since 2012, but were ultimately beaten by a strong Gungahlin United outfit.
“The clubs decision to take an exciting new direction has been taken carefully, as we look to build on what our first grade team was able to achieve in 2019,” Tigers FC said.
“We see this appointment as a long-term position as we prepare our club with a strong foundation for future success.”
Grogan will also take on the role of the club’s Technical Director next season. Tigers FC also thanked outgoing coach Gaby Wilk for his contributions to the club over a number of years.
